Penne is one of the six fresh pasta shapes we make at Bigoli Fresh Pasta: short tubes, good with anything chunky. We make it at 123 City Road, London EC1V 1JB, by the Old Street roundabout, a short walk from Shoreditch.
Which of our sauces suit penne
Any sauce works with any shape, and choosing a shape is no extra charge. You pick the sauce, then the shape. Penne is also the shape our kids' dishes come on: the children's Pomodoro and Kids Bolognese are both served on penne.
All 16 sauces, from Pomodoro e Basilico and Bolognese to Carbonara, are on our menu with counter prices.
Gluten-free penne
Every dish on our menu can be made with our gluten-free penne, cooked in separate water. We are not a gluten-free kitchen: our kitchen handles allergens including gluten, nuts, dairy, egg and crustaceans, and we cannot guarantee any dish is free from any allergen, so please tell us about any allergy before you order. Made from durum wheat semolina and water
Our penne is extruded on site every morning from durum wheat semolina and water, pushed through a brass die in the shop before the doors open. There is no egg in the dough. None of this pasta is dried, frozen or bought in. The sauces are made in-house, and every plate is cooked to order, ready in minutes.
How to order penne
Come to the counter and say the sauce first and the shape second. Pasta is from £7.90 at the counter, and an X-Large portion is £2 more. Eat in or take it away; there is nothing to book. We are open Monday to Thursday and Sunday 11:00 to 23:00, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday, and we take orders right up to closing time. You can also call us on 020 3838 2015. For delivery, use Deliveroo or Uber Eats, which set their own prices, higher than the counter.

Can I have any dish on gluten-free penne?
Yes. Every dish can be made with our gluten-free penne, cooked in separate water. Some sauces may contain gluten, so ask our team which ones suit you. We are not a gluten-free kitchen, so tell us about any allergy before you order.
Is your penne vegan?
Our fresh pasta is vegan (durum wheat semolina and water, no egg). Pair it with a vegan sauce: ask our team.
Can I buy fresh penne to cook at home?
We sell uncooked fresh pasta to take home. Ask our team at the counter.
