Fresh pasta shapes
Six shapes, all extruded here every morning from durum wheat semolina and water. You pick one, then you pick the sauce.
Penne — short tubes, good with anything chunky. Rigatoni — wider and ridged, for heavy meat sauces. Spaghetti — the default, best with oil and tomato. Fusilli — spirals that trap pesto and cream. Bigoli — thick, round and rough-surfaced, the Venetian shape the shop is named after. Fettuccine — flat ribbons, made for cream.
Gluten-free penne is available and is cooked in separate water.
None of our fresh pasta is dried, frozen or bought in. 123 City Road, London EC1V 1JB, a short walk from Old Street station and Shoreditch.
